Adwaita Slim for Ubuntu

Oct 14, 2011

So, what we have here? It's a slightly (!) modified version of the Adwaita theme. I like the original Version a lot, because it is beautiful clean and simple. What I do not like about it are some elements that are way to large and space wasting in my personal opinion.

So I changed some things, reduced some padding, scrollbar sizes, changed fonts and so on.

Also, I've integrated the Aldabra theme (gtk2 fallback), so programs that are not jet ported to gtk3 should integrate a lot better in the UI.

I strongly recommend to install the liberation ttf fonts, that are mainly used here. For the Aldabra theme you need to have gtk2-engines-pixbuf installed.

This is work in progress, bugs are possible. I've created this under Ubuntu 11.10 Beta2, with Gnome Shell 3.2. Some Updates will follow and if you have any hints or suggestions for improvement, feel free to post them here.

To install, simply extract the archive to ~/.themes/.

If you want to have the window buttons (close, minimize) on the left, enter the following command in a terminal:

gconftool --type string --set /desktop/gnome/shell/windows/button_layout "close, minimize:"

Update1: some smaller changes, mainly the borders of popups are smaller now (2 > 1 pixel).

Update2: decreased the borders of some svgs, changed gtk2 fallback to the great Aldabra gtk2 theme, increased transparency a bit (popups), other minor changes.

Update3: adjustments on the gtk2 scrollbars, decreased inner padding of popups, added the nautilus thumbnail shadows (file & tutorial are in the folder "goodies").
